Chiltern Branch of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers
Ringing is a very inclusive activity and across the exercise one can find a full range of ages, sexes and many disabilities. Obviously given the physical nature of ringing certain disabilities such as a lack of hands or arms may make learning impractical but there are people who ring with only one arm, from wheelchairs or are blind.
Within our band we have teenagers to older pensioners and experience varying from a few years to decades. We have ringers who have given faithful service to this Church for years but who have rung at few other Churches and few long length peals (3 hours plus of continuous ringing) and others who have rung at hundreds of Churches and multiple peals. All are welcome and will be encouraged to develop their ringing to the best of their ability.
Like all modern organisations we do take our duties of safeguarding and care seriously and put in place appropriate protections such as DBS checks and having sufficient people present when ringing or teaching takes place to minimise risks.
