Meet the Family

What sort of family are we?

We're a happy family...

because we enjoy each other's fellowship. There are many activities in addition to coming together on Sundays for Worship. This may be a small prayer or home group, it may be a barbecue, a day out for the children, or the annual leaf clearing.

We're a caring family ...

supporting each other on our Christian journey and in our daily lives in prayer and with practical help. Our vicar and licensed lay minister are assisted by a pastoral care worker together with our 'Keep In Touch' (KIT) group to ensure we can be supportive to our parishioners in times of difficulty. Many of us are involved in the local community with, for example, helping the lunch clubs for the elderly or supporting our schools.

We're a family who value our children

We do not regard them simply as tomorrow's Church but part of today's Church. We want them to be both seen and heard as they can often bring clarity and vision through their questions and innocence. On Sundays, other than the first one in the month, our Junior Church meet for teaching and worship. This has been created to meet their needs before rejoining the adult congregation for a blessing during the communion. A crèche is available so that parents with very young children can relax and enjoy the service.

We're a family with teenagers

They have energy and vibrancy. In 2004 we appointed two trained youth workers to help our teenagers develop activities that respect their youth and allows them freedom to develop. We have two youth groups: REACH for teenagers between 10 and 13 years and Wyred for those 14+ years. Both groups learn about God through discussions, meeting other teenagers on adventure weekends, fellowship at social events like bowling and joining in community projects. Oh yes - and there is time just to chill out!

We're a family with many different backgrounds and tastes

We want everyone to feel included regardless of age and background. We offer a range of services from the traditional to the more contemporary. We value our traditions but we're not afraid to try new ideas to help us grow in faith and ensure we do not grow stale.

We're an outward looking family...

concerned to support mission at home and abroad both practically and in prayer. Our membership of the ecumenical group Churches Together, involvement in Lighthouse (the Christian holiday week for children) and our Mission Group working to support other groups are a few examples of our concern beyond our immediate Church family.

We're a family waiting to welcome you...

whether you are just visiting or looking for a Church to join!
