Bob Chilcott Singing Day 2018

On 24th November, St Peter & St Paul hosted 100 singers from choirs large and small from the local area and beyond (including one singer from Seattle!) in a hugely successful Come and Sing day.

Composer and conductor Bob Chilcott, the former King's Singer who is now one of the most popular choral composers in the world, introduced some of his Christmas repertoire - a handful of carols and excerpts from the larger cantata Wenceslas. The chance to sing with the composer is always inspirational for a musician, and Bob adds extra little tales of his extraordinary experiences as a professional singer and as a conductor to make the day unforgettable.

So, huge thanks to Bob and to our accompanist Andrew McKenna, who travelled over from Reading to support the voices, to all 100 singers, and to the team from St P&P.
Four volunteers kept the coffee and tea brewing all day whilst serving cake from the many bakers in the Parish, and washing up. And a second team looked after the singers, keeping track of music scores and selling CDs. It was a brilliant event, warmly appreciated by everyone who came.
