Festival of Sciences
We are planning another Festival of Sciences at St Peter & St Paul in October this year. The aims of the festival are to celebrate the joy and beauty of the sciences, and to give thanks for and celebrate the lives and contributions of scientists and engineers. Science and faith are often seen as being in conflict. The festival hopes to answer some of the questions relating faith to the sciences - or at least raise them. It also hopes to address the view held by many, that the sciences are not for them, by showing the beauty and wonder of things scientific.
We are still at the planning stage but displays include the following:
Leonardo da Vinci - both his engineering designs and art
Population growth and the impact on the environment
Space exploration and the anniversary of the moon landing
Bees and ecology
An Engineering Station showing various new building techniques
Making buildings less carbon intensive
Ground conservation at St Peter & St Paul
We’re also hoping to include some art of science: as well as Leonardo da Vinci. The Church Christmas Cards were designed at a Family Praise and include stars.
The Festival runs from Friday 25th October to Sunday 27th, open from 10am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday and following the 10am service on Sunday.
